Dalene Lemberes has lived in Paramount for just over a year, yet her love for Christmas has brought delight to the holiday season for over four decades. Dalene is a professional Christmas stager (decorator) and a McCall native where some described her as the "heartbeat of McCall," and the place she started most of her Christmas traditions. With a passion for Christmas and a genuinely warm personality, Dalene has organized hundreds of holiday gatherings, both large-scaled events and intimate gatherings. She acquired many of her early decorations just before or just after Christmas, and today her collection has grown to need over 300 storage boxes to be contained during off-season.
Dalene enjoys living in Paramount and has made many new friends and neighbors. Now most of Dalene's holiday celebrations are held in Paramount as well - and we couldn't be happier! Her Paramount Holiday Party, an annual event where she invites the entire neighborhood to her home for a full spread of Christmas appetizers and treats, delighted over 70 Paramount residents this year and she hopes for an even larger attendance next year. The word is spreading, as she has had nearly a dozen separate groups stop by for impromptu tours of her beautiful, festive home, as well.
Always mindful of how blessed we are, Dalene also gives back to the community. This year she and a small group of volunteers donated materials and time to decorate two separate nursing homes for the holiday season.
Paramount has many fascinating residents and we hope to continue sharing their stories of generosity and kindness in 2011. Merry Christmas!

Snow brings unconventional fun to Paramount!
The blanket of snowfall, which prompted school closures and slushy roads throughout the Treasure Valley, brought another surprise to Paramount this week. The completely-drained south pond along Cayuse Creek was transformed into an unexpected haven for resident sledders and snowboarders! With disregard for well-intended messages on nearby signs, families are gathering at this new snow-packed destination to take advantage of the pond's open space and rolling slopes. "It's like a mini Bogus Basin, only without the sometimes-difficult drive to get there," commented one Paramount resident.
The wintry fun should continue through the season, with the pond scheduled to be refilled in springtime 2011.

Paramount residents serve up a flavorful variety at Annual Chili Cook-off
Paramount's Annual Chili Cook-off was held in conjunction with the Harvest Festival for a full (literally!) day of fun at Crosby Park! Creativity in the culinary arts was evident with a wide range of recipes and presentation styles. The best of the best entries included: Judges Choice Award | BSUtes by Blake & Holly Worthington; People's Choice Award | C.C. Chili Factory by Crysty & Carrie Covino; Best Presentation Award | The Big-Haired Chefs by Doug & Nadine Reece; Meatiest Chili Award | The Elkins Team by Clark & Beth Elkins; Beaniest Chili Award | Rammon Noodles by Ammon Covino and Robert Richards.
The top honor, Paramount Chili Idol 2010 Award, went to BSU Bronco Chili by Jim & Edith Irving. Thank you to all the participants for making this one of the most fun and memorable events of the season!

Paramount Children's Outdoor Theatre 2010 season is about to begin!
Calling all little actors and actresses! This year's Paramount Children's Outdoor Theatre will perform "Alice in Wonderland" on Thursday, July 15. Tryouts will be Monday, June 21, then we'll rehearse at Crosby Park Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 10-12 (though not all children will have to be there for every single practice depending on their parts.) The children's play is for children ages 4 and up, and we welcome everyone! We also need parents' help us with set, costumes, and production. "And the Survey says..." Paramount Residents Weigh-in on Events & Activities
The Events/Hospitality Committee conducted an online survey for residents to provide feedback on what types of events and activities were valued in the neighborhood. We had 72 respondents complete the survey - which was great and more than we expected! The top three events are 1) Summer Concerts, 2) Easter Egg Hunt & Fourth of July Parade (tie), and 3) Harvest Festival.
We were surprised that Adult Cooking Classes had high interest in the Activities section, as well as Fitness/Training Workshops and a recreational volleyball league. The committee is researching how to add these opportunities within the neighborhood.
We are looking forward to another great year of events at Paramount and thank you to all the residents who completed the survey! The results are attached for your reference and as always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me 208/250-2774 cell.

Join Us in Supporting Haiti
Please join us this Friday evening to hear some endearing stories of Haiti in the aftermath of the recent earthquake, and how its effects have touched one Paramount family.
We have asked residents Scott and Abby Hoefer to share the story of their recent adoption of Alex, a three-year-old boy from Haiti who just joined his new family last week. The adoption was completed after three years of moving through the international adoption process, with the earthquake accelerating the release of the final documents. Scott and Abby and their three daughters are very happy to finally have Alex with them and we would like to express our happiness for them at this special event.
Also available will be Brian Shepson, a pilot from Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF.org), to speak about their recent experiences in Haiti and how the help and relief really are making a difference. (Brian just returned from Haiti on January 28.) MAF has had a presence in Haiti for over 20 years, and 100% of the funds raised this evening will go directly towards Haiti. This is a family-friendly event with the stories appropriate for both an adult and younger audience.

Thank You from Keep Kids Warm Campaign & Kissin' 92
A warm thank you to all the residents and supporters of Paramount's Coat Drive this past December! The Events/Hospitality Committee selected the Keep Kids Warm campaign as the benefitting charity for this year's annual event. Together we donated 44 coats and 15 sets of hats, scarves, mittens and gloves! The Giving Tree in the community center, where all the items were collected, was a spectacular sight at the end of the drive and such a great reminder of the generosity of this amazing neighborhood! Paramount Cheer Club off to a great start!
We got spirit - yes we do! We got spirit - how 'bout you?! The Paramount Cheer Club kicked off the holiday season with a parade float in the Boise Holiday Parade on November 28. Nearly 35 little cheerleaders, ages 4 - 12, were warmly dressed in their Paramount Cheer Club Sweatshirts and matching scarves, complete with Santa hats for a good measure of holiday cheer!
The Paramount Cheer Club held its first practice in early September 2009, with a recreational cheerleading curriculum. Since that time, the team has grown to 45 members. Since its start just a few months ago, the team has performed at the Paramount Harvest Festival and cheered at a basketball game with the Heritage Middle School Cheerleaders. We plan to continue to find oppurtunities to perform and continue our practices where we learn jumps, motions, technique, cheers and dances. We are an enthusiastic group that loves to cheer!
