3rd Annual Neighborhood 4th of July Parade brings smiles

As a Paramount resident I enjoy being part of a community. I attended the 4th of July parade for the 1st time. Red, White & Blue everywhere,..... bicycles, trailers, strollers. Most of all smiling faces, so pleased and proud to follow in procession of the fire truck. Thank You Paramount for all your efforts. The Tower of Balloon was beautiful and a Kodak moment for many.

We had bunnies tall and small at our Easter Egg Hunt!

We had tall and small bunnies scampering about Paramount at our annual Easter Egg Hunt! Despite cold temperatures and a brisk breeze, nearly 200 children bundled up to hunt for eggs! The event was hosted by Paramount's Events/Hospitality Committee, and attracted children from surrounding neighborhoods as well. The fun included face-painting, jump house, a small petting zoo, refreshments and a special appearance by the Easter Bunny himself! A warm thank you to everyone who helped pull off this fun event, with special thanks to Eric and Amanda Smith for going the extra mile and to Fernando and Gaby de la Garza and Suzy Hathaway for their wonderful photographs featured in the attached YouTube video. Thank you!

Highlights of the Harvest Festival

My son, Jimmy Fletcher, age 10 and 1/2, had this to say in his own words about the Harvest Festival: "It was so fun because we got to play games, earn prizes and have fun. The hay ride was bumpy and took us around the neighborhood to the park. There was a huge jumper obstacle course so we took a break and raced on it before heading back to the games and cake walk at the clubhouse. My favorite game was the steer roping because I am really good at it. Thank you Paramount!!!" 

My other two children enjoyed it as well and they especially loved the steer roping game and cake walk, too. We always have such a great time at the fun community family-friendly events that Paramount has. We are so thankful to live in such a fantastic neighborhood where there are many opportunities to get involved and meet new friends!

Smiles Abound at Paramount's Fourth of July Parade

Our family had a magnificent time at the neighborhood Fourth of July Parade.  My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed decorating our son’s stroller and dressing our family in red, white and blue.  Our one year old was thrilled as he and the other children were led down the road by a real fire engine. He couldn't stop smiling and waving.  Even my dog picked up the wag in his tail as he marched in along with everyone to the end of the parade route, where we all enjoyed frozen treats!

Paramount Neighborhood Concert Review

Is it just me, or are the concerts at the park getting better each time? The last concert in the park was fabulous! The music was outstanding and everyone was having a great time. My wife and I were able to meet some new friends and reacquaint with some old ones. My children enjoyed dancing to the songs. The night was perfect. Thanks again for making Paramount such a great place to live.

Paramount Community Yard Sale 2008 Recap

Well, we've concluded another successful Paramount yard sale. Whew! The Paramount yard sale has been a huge success from its humble beginning in 2005 right on through to last weekend's "Great in '08" sale. I've been a part of every community yard sale, and I'm always amazed by the whole spectacle.

The sale officially started at 8:00 a.m., however the early birds start flying in at about 6:30 a.m. I know they're just looking for the best deals and want to get to my garbage - I mean stuff - before I just throw it away at 11:30, but 6:30 is just way too early! I was in my torn up sweat pants and Old Navy summer of 97 t-shirt still trying to get organized and they're walking into my house offering me $10 for my flat panel television!

Besides the occasional brazen early bird, the spectacle I enjoy the most is what I call the junk swap. Although we have hundreds of people visit the Paramount community yard sale from all over the Treasure Valley, most of the precious items purchased only move four or five houses in either direction. The weekend before the yard sale, most of the participants are cleaning out their homes, sheds and garages with the intent of selling off unneeded items and clearing out some much needed space. But then comes the yard sale morning and they can't help but take the money they just made selling their treadmill and walk five garage sales down to buy a bow flex!

There were many winners and losers in the great Paramount yard sale of 2008. The award for "Yard Salesman of the Year" goes to Aiden Brown. Aiden sacrificed a large supply of his most cherished toys. He even managed to sell many of them with missing parts or broken appendages for way over retail value to achieve his goal of purchasing a Nintendo Wii. Although his parents have not seen anything but the back of Aiden's head since he got his prized Wii, they're happy that they can walk into his room and actually see the carpet!

Thank you to all the yard sellers and buyers that participated in the Paramount community yard sale. Don't forget that there are only about 350 days until the "Feelin' Fine in '09" sale!
